At their new headquarters on Knowhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy are attacked by a Sovereign warrior named Adam Warlock, created by High Priestess Ayesha who wants them dead after they stole from her. After Rocket is critically injured in the battle, the Guardians discover that their med-packs have no effect on the wound due to a kill-switch embedded in him by an organisation called Orgocorp. As Rocket lies dying, he recalls his past where he was found and experimented upon by Orgocorp as a baby raccoon. The group’s leader, known as the High Revolutionary, aimed to enhance and anthropomorphise animal lifeforms into “Humanimals” for an ideal society, Counter-Earth. As we learn more about Rocket’s early years and the friendships he developed while imprisoned, the rest of the Guardians race against time to track down Orgocorp’s headquarters to find the switch’s override code so that they can save Rocket’s life.
