Growing up in Houston, Texas, George Foreman lives in poverty alongside his siblings and religious mother, Nancy. Foreman becomes riddled with anger issues and violent outbursts, narrowly evading arrest, which leads him to joining the Job Corps in a last-ditch effort to turn his life around. During this time, he befriends his roommate Desmond and the chairman, a boxer trainer named Doc, who encourages him to channel his rage into the sport. Foreman proves to be a gifted fighter and after just a year of boxing he wins the gold medal for the US at the Mexico 1968 Summer Olympics, leading to a professional career where he fights in world title fights against the likes of Joe Frazier and Mohammed Ali (in the notorious Rumble in the Jungle). But family events outside the sport soon cause Foreman to reconsider his priorities in life, resulting in a religious conversion which completely changes his outlook and gives Foreman a second chance.
