The Scottish Documentary Institute’s flagship programme Bridging the Gap is designed to support and inspire documentary talent in Scotland and Northern Ireland. This collection features four short films made by emerging filmmakers who have taken part in this training. The films delve into diverse themes including rural communities, disabilities and inclusion, trans identities, and war in the digital age. In ‘Community Theatre’, a local youth theatre brings to life stories from three generations of a quiet working-class town in Scotland. ‘Fitting’ explores the relationship between the director, an amputee, and her prosthetist, by their contrasting experiences during the making of a prosthetic leg. ‘Everyman’ is a personal, visual essay about gender transition, focusing on the social context and implications and exploring how the world is different living as female compared to being perceived as male. In 'Prosopagnosia’, the filmmaker employs animation to explain what 'face blindness' is and how it impacts their life. These films are suitable for learners aged 15+
