Synopsis

A group of robbers enter a bank disguised as painters and soon take control, taking all inside hostage. The police arrive led by a cop with a past - and a battle of wits ensues between him, the criminals' smart and articulate leader, and an ambiguous female negotiator. Nothing is quite what it seems in Spike Lee's tense thriller, which throws up all manner of enjoyable red herrings - while at the same time dealing with wider issues of morality and corruption in high places.

What our educators say

"It really is a chance for us to open children's minds to the power of film not just as a vehicle for entertainment but also as a way in to understanding their own world and the worlds of people whose lives are very different."

- Marlon Perkins, Teacher, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed CofE Junior School, Kent
