We are very excited to reveal that Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical will kick off the 2022 Into Film Festival, with pupil premieres of the film taking place in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, London and Manchester on 8 November ahead of its UK release.
Roald Dahl's Matilda the Musical is the inspirational musical tale of an extraordinary girl who against all odds, discovers her superpower and summons the remarkable courage to help others change their stories, whilst also taking charge of her own destiny. Standing up for what's right, she's met with miraculous results.
The film is a brand-new take on the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical and boasts a stellar cast, including Emma Thompson as the villainous Mrs Trunchbull, Lashana Lynch as Miss Honey, Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough as Matilda's parents, and Alisha Weir as Matilda herself.
This year's Into Film Festival will take place from 8-25 November, with hundreds of free screenings, Q&As and special film and careers events designed to help educators bring learning to life for their 5-19 year-old pupils. We have also have curriculum-linked teaching resources and film guides to support some of the films in the programme, and our Into Film Festival Review Writing Competition is once again taking place to help boost literacy for those attending.
Our UK-wide Into Film Festival returns from 8-25 November with a host of exciting special events and screenings for young people of all ages.
