Synopsis

In Paris, three teenage friends – Yacine, Dorian and Sofiene – meet up at their local multiplex, except Yacine has arrived 45 minutes early. When questioned why, he explains that his father is getting on his nerves and wants Yacine to get a job straight after finishing school. The three boys arrive at the cinema with the intention of sneaking in to see the much-anticipated ‘Fast and Furious 8’ via the fire exit, but their plan is thwarted when a security guard turns up. Undeterred, Yacine has a new idea: they will buy cheaper tickets to the arthouse movie showing in the next screen and then move once the screening starts. But after they sit down to the classic Italian film ‘Bicycle Thieves’, Yacine finds himself transfixed by this story of a young boy and his father. ‘Intermission’ is an uplifting French language short about growing up, relationships, and the power of cinema.

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
