This historical drama is based on the hostage crisis that marked the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, West Germany, telling the story from the perspective of a US television crew on the night shift. When their scheduled broadcast is suddenly interrupted by gunfire, the team learn that a group of athletes from Israel is being held hostage by terrorists in the Olympic village. The sports journalists, including a veteran broadcaster, an ambitious young go-getter and a German translator, find themselves unexpectedly on the frontline of this breaking news story, having to adapt their reporting to live crisis coverage with the whole world watching. By revisiting this chaotic and important moment in history through the eyes of contemporary filmmaking, the story opens up a discussion on media ethics and reportage in the present day.
