Watch our interview with film composer Lorne Balfe this Music Day

To celebrate Music Day (June 21), we're taking a look back at a fantastic interview we conducted at last year's Into Film Festival with film composer Lorne Balfe. Watch the video above to hear about Lorne's scoring process and what inspires his music.

The Scottish composer has composed music for dozens of films (and computer games), including HomeSherlock HolmesPenguins of Madagascar, and most recently Kung Fu Panda 3

"When I was young, the concept of anything to do with film really was hard to imagine. I had to run away to Los Angeles, but now you don't need to do that in terms of accessibility" said Balfe, speaking to the Daily Record during the Festival.

I was always told that if you want to be into music, it's probably not going to happen because we look at the arts like it's not a safe profession. The best advice was to just go for it, no matter what. If you have a passion for something, just go for it.
