Music Day 21 June

21 June marks Music Day - an opportunity to celebrate the universal language of music. As part of this celebration of all things musical - and particularly, the inextricable link between music and film - we're highlighting several music-related events, screenings, resources and interviews.

Music has always been an integral part of the world of film; from the early days of cinema when silent pictures relied on music to help convey story, character and theme, right through to the modern day, when film composers are almost as revered as directors, and a film's score can elevate a movie to a whole new level.

On Music Day itself we're hosting free screenings of fantastic music-themed films, while our Spotlight on Music resources (for Primary and Secondary) are a perfect way to help educate young people on the significant role music can play in film. We've also curated a Music Day film list, bursting with music-related films, including documentaries and biopics of important artists, as well as films where the score forms a vital part of the storytelling.
