Our featured title this week is The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, a live-action adaptation of the popular short story which sees a young girls transported to a magical land.

On Christmas Eve, the young Clara receives a nutcracker toy from her Godfather and is surprised when it comes alive at midnight and leads her to a mysterious door. On the other side is sweet-inspired land and a young soldier named Phillip who leads her through the kingdom's four realms and their monarchs, but when it's time to return to the ordinary world they must face the final realm and the tyrant Mother Ginger.

Peterloo; Slaughterhouse Rulez; Mirai

Also in cinemas this week is Peterloo, a historical drama on the notorious 1819 massacre that took place in Manchester during a pro-democracy protest; Slaughterhouse Rulez, a dark comedy about British boarding school haunted by a mysterious sinkhole; and Mirai, a beautiful Japanese animation that sees a young boy discovering a magical time-travelling garden. 

Peterloo and Slaughterhouse Rulez have free screenings taking place in November as part this year's Into Film Festival.

Whitney

Spanning the life of the iconic singer Whitney Houston, this documentary follows the star's rise to fame and her turbulent personal journey. Through interviews with those closest to her and home-footage, Whitney highlights the effect fame, discrimination and tragic events had on Houston, while provides intimate access to her enigmatic personality and extraordinary talent. 

Whitney has free screenings taking place in November as part the Mental Wellbeing strand at this year's Into Film Festival.
