Wellbeing: Staying Safe Online

Build confidence using film to develop digitally responsible young people.

Wellbeing: Staying Safe Online

With 63% of children aged 8-11 and 93% of children aged 12-15 using social media,* it's crucial that we speak to children and young people about life online.

In this session, you will take part in a range of engaging film-based activities to support discussion on themes, issues and strategies tostay safe online.

Using highlights from films, you'll learn how to analyse characters' actions to build critical thinking skills, respond to storylines to build empathy, and highlight the importance of seeking support. You'll also explore how you can then connect these film examples to real life contexts such as questioning what information we choose to share online.

This session is a part of Into Film's Wellbeing training, which also includes includes Mindfulness Through Film and Anti-Bullying. In this suite of sessions, we explore how film can be a powerful tool for developing empathy, exploring impact, and discussing difficult issues faced by the character, all at a level removed from issues that a young person may be facing themselves.
