Synopsis

The six youth-made short films included in this collection are the winners of the Into Film Awards 2020, where we celebrate the talent, creativity and potential of young filmmakers and artists around the country. This wide variety of films, made from students of different ages, backgrounds and perspectives, are a fantastic insight into what the future holds for British film.

Save Bobby the Fish (Best Film 11 Years and Under): A small fish named Bobby discovers that his friends have become trapped in a plastic-littered ocean so he sets out to find a way to free them. (4 mins, cert. U)

I'm the One (Best Film 12-15): A poetic and impressively staged one-shot film in which the residents of one small town demonstrate that everyone has their story and their own issues to deal with. (5 mins, cert. PG)

Bob's Your Uncle (Best Film 16-19): A bickering brother and sister embark on a treasure hunt left to them by their late uncle Bob in his will... but just what is the treasure that lies at the end of it? (10 mins, cert. U)

Overload (Best Animation): A brilliant stop-motion animation that depicts what it feels like to have autism and ride on a busy train, exploring how an everyday situation can begin to feel a bit too much. (5 mins, cert. PG)

1 Year (Best Documentary): A very personal documentary in which Ben reflects on his past achievements and charts his first year on testosterone, as he transitions to becoming the person he truly is. (4 mins, cert. PG)

It's Just Not Fair! (Audience Choice Award):  A group of youngsters from Castleton Primary narrate their smart and timely short documentary about food poverty. (5 mins, cert. U)

What our educators say

"We are currently screening The Wizard of Oz, profound film that it is, and the last film Wall-E. It's been rewarding observing the KS1 6 year olds run the gamut of emotions from wonder to sadness to joy. "
