Synopsis

The five youth-made short films included in this collection are the winners of the Into Film Awards 2024, where we celebrate the talent, creativity and potential of young filmmakers and artists around the country. This wide variety of films, made from students of different ages, backgrounds and perspectives, are a fantastic insight into what the future holds for British film.

Benjamin's Magical Kitchen Birds (Best Animation 11 and Under): Short animation that imagines what everyday kitchen items would look like if they were magically transformed into birds. (2 mins, cert. U)

Frog Fight (Best Animation 12 and Over): A dialogue-free animation in which a young frog tries to make his dream of flying a reality, much to the dismay of his friends and family. (3 mins, cert. U)

Cereal Killers (Audience Choice Award): Tired of being munched on by an ungrateful Breakfast Club, one school's cereal boxes come to life and turn the tables. (6 mins, cert. U)

Disconnected (Best Documentary): An insightful documentary examining our relationship with social media, from understanding dopamine hits to screen time management tips. (10 mins, cert. U)

Dyslexia and Me (Best Film 11 and Under): A short film that blends animation, documentary and drama to explore the topic of dyslexia, and the difficulties it can pose to young learners. (10 mins, cert. PG)

The Language of Cymraeg (Best Film 12 to 15): Filled with amusing dramatic recreations, The Language of Cymraeg sees a classroom in Wales being taught about the history of the Welsh language, covering everything from Henry VIII's attempts to ban it, to those who have fought to keep it alive and give the language more prominence in the modern era. (8 mins, cert. PG)
